The Wonder Of Child Development
The Wonder Of Child Development
When we speak of child development, we are talking about that period that begins at birth and ends some time around the end of adolescence. Their life begins as one completely dependent on their parents and as their lives progress, a sense of self sufficiency takes over and eventually the child is a child no more.
As your child grows and develops in society, the things you have taught will be instrumental in his success. The child must be guided and engaged in ways which will lay the foundations he will need for later in life.
When children are born, their heads are large compared to the rest of their body. Then through a series of changes as they grow, they get taller and heavier. Their relative sizes also change during this time, and their body grows into one that fits their head size.
The rate of physical development is fast right after being born for the first few months, then the same becomes sluggish, such that the weight at the time of birth becomes twofold in the initial quarter year, becomes threefold by one year, but not four times within two years of age. Child development then progresses at a gradual speed until a short time before puberty, which occurs approximately between nine and 15 years, which is when you will notice a time of fast development. Development is not consistent in speed and timing over each part of the body. Genes play a huge role in controlling the rate of development, and characteristically, the alterations in proportion that are typical of early development.
Poor eating habits and illnesses can affect the process of your child’s growth. But even the best situations will not contribute to a development which is different that what has already been ordained by heredity factors. Height is also to be considered with regard to heredity. Some ethnic communities will generally have taller citizens than others, and that is just how it is to be.
