The Benefits of Developing Self-Discipline
Self discipline is the key to long lasting success. Once you have it, there is very little that can stand in your way. By learning the keys to setting goals, making plans to reach those goals and having the patience to persevere, few obstacles can stand in your way while you achieve success in whatever you decide to be or do.
Sadly, for the masses, discipline is lacking. They have learned to look for quick fix solutions to their problems. The state of their health is left in the hands of a doctor who they feel will cure all their ills with a subscription for a miracle pill.
But life doesn’t work that way. From the moment of birth, we all begin the journey of learning that comes from getting an education and gaining experience. Along the way we need to cultivate discipline.
There are so many benefits that come from creating a disciplined life. Among them:
● Discipline is a good habit that can be learned and developed. Once learned it can be applied to every problem until a solution is found.
● Discipline makes it easier to kick bad habits. Those who have it find it easier to quit smoking. They have more incentive to do what must be done to achieve a goal whether that means losing weight or becoming more productive in society.
● Self-discipline focuses the mind on the positive aspects of life. Those who don’t have it are filled with fears and doubt about their capabilities to being successful.
● A self-disciplined man or woman is an achiever simply because they have confidence in their abilities and talents. They simply know that they can get anything they set their heart on and there’s nothing that stands in their way.
● It clears the mind. A mind devoid of fear and doubt is able to see possibilities. It attracts opportunities. It helps attract wealth.
● Someone who possesses this quality is more passionate. The achiever lives to be successful and has the drive to reach goals. Discipline provides the energy the achiever needs to overcome obstacles until he or she has reached their goal. Only time stands in the way and they use it wisely to create something constructive from life that few people ever achieve.
● The disciplined man or woman is someone people look up to for guidance and advice. They become role models for their children and others in the local community. They are respected for their leadership qualities.
● Discipline crosses over the physical barrier and into the mind. Mental acuities are sharpened. It becomes easier to see through problems to find solutions. While many people resort to emotions to handle problems, a disciplined mind helps focus on the problem, analyze it and solve it.
● Creativity and imagination are enhanced. Creativity is so important as it helps not just solve problems, but solve them in a unique way. There are no limits to how a problem can be solved. Ideas flood the imagination and provide a multitude of ways to handle a problem. Most people think in narrow channels and fail to broaden their scope. They don’t think outside the box.
● Discipline people get more promotions and are endowed with more responsibilities in their jobs, their business and their community.
Those who have trained themselves are the leaders and heroes of society. They are no more special or gifted than the average man. But they have developed those qualities that mark their names in history as men and women who have made the world a better place.
