How can you tell if a MLM opportunity is legitimate/legal

I really want to join this, but I’m afraid it may not be legal, please let me know if its ok… to join ?!?!?

I lost my job few years ago and after that I just couldn’t find a new one. Nobody was hiring. I am so glad that my friend told me about this…
I work from home – MLM for few years now. The company is legitimate and has been on the market since 1999. They pay me every time – no issues. I will show you my paypal account, so you will be sure that this is not just another scam! You can start for free and work when you have time.

But, if you decide to work from home (online), you need somebody to show you what do you have to do, otherwise u will do too many unnecessary things. I started on my own, and I was not making any progress for quite a while.
