Question by Malitah: Is it legal to make money using images from games?
I was thinking about making clocks with faces of characters from the Final Fantasy series on them. I f I were to do that, and try to sell them, would that be illegal? Chances are none of you are going to know, so would anyone know how I could find out?
I wasn’t gonna go ahead and do it anyway, that’s why I was asking. I wanted to do my homework first of course, lol.

Totally illegal. You have to purchase a license to market copyrighted designs and characters. So you are in competition with companies which may readily pay $ 50,000 – $ 5,000,000 for a license to reproduce such characters. You’d better believe your use would be discovered, and it is a FEDERAL offense with $ 250,000 fine per copy plus 5 years in prison. The Feds, the owners of the property, etc, are constantly on the lookout for violations of intellectual property rights. You want the FBI on your tail? That’s who you have watching you.
