How does work at home online work?

Question by John K.: How does work at home online work?
I sometimes see online advertisements about “work at home”.

I was wondering how they work. Is that like they want you to pay some money to start the business and ask you to run a similar web site to get start-up fees? Like old pyramid scheme? Only the top of the pyramid can get much money?

If so, I was wondering if it’s legal and if I can really make money as advertised.

It seems some sites put CNN or ABC or New York Times logos on the pages.

I would avoid those MLM programs where you end up with the exact same property as thousands of other people, much of the Internets commerce is driven by search engines, which like original content.

A work at home scam model Google is suing 50 companies about is still going strong, there are ads following the exact same fake news report format in the sponsored search results on these very pages:

Top Work From Home Programs 2010 www.WorkAtHomeCareerNews – Work Online And Make Over $ 1,365 a Week. As seen on CNN, NBC and CNBC

Make $ 200-$ 250 Daily From Home www.Chicago-Observer – Learn How To Make $ 9,235 Every Month As Seen On CNN, NBC, Fox & CBS

They have a fake familiar sounding newspaper name for a header, tailored to your location. The scam involves information for work that doesn’t exist (posting links for google) offered for a $ 2 shipping fee, your credit card is later charged an additional $ 50 to $ 79 for which you might receive some useless crap.

Most commonly, individuals make money with affiliate marketing, most things sold on the internet use in part, independent sources of traffic for which they pay a 5% to 20% commission for physical products and 50% or more for digital products that have no real production cost. The real secret behind successful affiliate marketing is getting 100s or 1000s of visitors to your web site property each day. Creating an original useful web site is often the first step in an internet marketing career.

Affiliate marketing is highly competitive, many start at clickbank.com which sells high profit digital products, with some 100,000+ affiliates, you will often find thousands of web sites set up to help promote more popular products. Making money on the internet is far from a sure thing.

The 2 prior replies are examples of affiliates promoting you typical busywork programs that may have you do ‘surveys’ for 50 cents, actually designed to pass your contact information on to marketers.
