Homelessness
Homelessness
It is a sad occurrence that homelessness is still a major issue in the developed world and the fact that homelessness remains far more common than it should be highlights how complicated the issue of homelessness can be. Every single person who faces the lonely and dangerous world of homelessness has been placed in that position for a variety of reasons. The reason why one person finds themselves in barren homelessness whilst another does not can be down to small details, choices or circumstances. Understanding homelessness and the reason behind homelessness has never, and will never, be a simple case.
Gaining a national picture on homelessness is difficult. How can homelessness be fully tracked when there are literally thousands of people on the street every night and countless more in homelessness shelters and hostels? Homelessness will forever be difficult to tackle as not only are the reasons for homelessness hard to grasps but the sheer scale of homelessness on these shores is near impossible to detect.
The issue of homelessness also rarely seems high on the political agenda. As politicians bail out banks, talk about tax and benefit cuts the issue of homelessness seems to be forgotten at a time when homelessness should be near the top of the political agenda. Nothing could be worse than finding oneself facing homelessness and the lack of acknowledgment coming from the top regarding homelessness is worrying. That is why the nation is blessed with charities and organisations focusing on tackling homelessness, proving short and long term relief for those facing homelessness and trying to bring the issue of homelessness to the top of the political agenda.
It is a sorry state of affairs when young adults with no working background and no interest in anything other than illegal activity can be placed in council homes whereas some face homelessness through no fault of their own. Homelessness needs to be tackled before it gets any worse and those suffering from homelessness need to be cared for and steered back into society and the homelessness plague gripping this country needs to be ended. Homelessness should not exist in this day and age in a developed country.
Mungos.org offers emergency homeless services through outreach teams as well as an extensive range of other services that are designed to help combat homelessness , but they cant do it alone.
