Do you have to be in direct sunlight to get the benefits of vitamin D?
Question by ♫♪Bag♫♪ Mummy to 3, 1 on the way: Do you have to be in direct sunlight to get the benefits of vitamin D?
Sorry, ignorant question, but I wanted to know if it is just as good to be sat in the car with the rays coming through the closed window, or do you have to be out in the sun?
Thank you!
You educated people you!
I wish I knew things like that at the drop of a hat!

You have to be out in the sun. The glasses (in the car, at home) will block the UVs that activate the vitamin D in your body. It takes 20 minutes a day of exposure to direct sunlight to have enough vitamin D in your body and help maintaining healthy bones.
