Can I be disallowed to graduate by owing money to another school?
Question by Jeremy R: Can I be disallowed to graduate by owing money to another school?
I owe another school I $ 7000 for a semester gone very very wrong. I am currently going to another school, and am set to graduate (hopefully) next December. I have been getting phone calls from bill collectors about the above-mentioned debt, and am being helped negotiate with the schools about getting the debt cleared. My question: Can owing one school money prevent me from graduating from my current school?

Most schools will not issue official transcripts if the student owes them money, so if you are depending on academic credits from the first school to be transferred to the school from which you will graduate, they most very likely will not transfer until the debt has been cleared.
