Supplies
Ready to finish wood surface to be painted
Base coat
Acrylic paint
Synthetic brushes
Sponge brush
Acrylic sealer
Tack cloth
Sandpaper
Step 1: Prep the wood with a fine grain sandpaper. Cut the sandpaper into small squares about 3 fingers in size. ALWAYS sand in the direction of the grain in the wood.
Step 2: Use your tack cloth to remove all debris from the wood.
Step 3: Choose your paint. Acrylic paint is a great choice for indoor wood paintings. Use acrylic enamel for outdoor wood paintings. The increased resilience of the enamel paint will help it weather the elements.
Step 4: Use a primer coat first. Cover completely.
Step 5: Allow the primer coat to dry, then apply your first acrylic paint coat.
Step 6: Allow the first coat to dry. Once dry, check your coverage. You may want to add a second coat. PRO TIP: Paint the bottoms of your project for a finished touch!
Step 7: Add details and designs with different brushes.
Step 8: Allow the piece to dry for 24hrs. Once dry use a sponge to apply an acrylic sealant.
