Here’s what you’ll need to get started with string art:
Plaque
Paper
Nails
String (embroidery floss works, too!)
Hammer
Pencil
Adhesive dots
Scissors
(0:11) Step 1 – Place your plaque on a piece of paper and trace the outline.
(0:20) Step 2 – Cut out your shape. Make sure it fits within the outline of your plaque!
(0:26) Step 3 – Fold the paper in half and draw one half of your shape.
(0:33) Step 4 – Cut the shape out of the paper.
(0:38) Step 5 – Use an adhesive dot to secure the paper cutout onto the plaque.
(0:46) Step 6 – With a pencil, mark on the wood everywhere you would like to place a nail. Keep in mind that nails should be at least 1 cm (3/8″) apart.
(0:51) Step 7 – Hammer in one nail at a time. Remove the paper template.
(1:02) Step 8 – Tie your string around one of the nails. Make a knot and snip off the end with scissors.
(1:08) Step 9 – Wrap the string around each nail. Be creative!
(1:09) Step 10 – Finish by creating an outline of the shape, tying a knot and snipping off the excess string.
