When we know it is not entirely upto the President to keep those promises. There is going to be the House and the Senate that will make or break any promises the canidate makes. There are going to be other volatile issues of economy, security and healthcare that will need prioritizing. Should we not be looking for astute leadership rather than promises?

I’m starting to think about colleges..and I know colleges like good leadership skills. What are some good examples of this in school? Does this mean like student body president? Or can it be something smaller?

Quotes can be pretty influential on our life. Little did we know that just a few strings of words could really make a difference in our life. There are quotes on friendship, relationship, leadership, success and many others that can be pretty inspiring and impactful on us. But is it true that quotes on leadership can make you be a real leader?

Some people are still skeptical regarding the hidden potential of the leadership quotes. You are definitely not to be blamed if you are one of them.

Quotes actually serves more than just the purpose of inspiring someone. These quotes are actually very useful tool in offices and schools. Good quotes on leadership are the ones that are able to move you. Not all quotes can be inspiring as such it is important that you choose one that is able to leave an impact on you after you finish reading it.

Quotes comes in all length and personally, I would prefer the ones that are short and to the point. Succinct and to the point – that should be your ideal quote.

But why use quotes? Well, quotes are actually great sources of inspiration when you are down in the dumps. Quotes on leadership can give back the life in you and spur up all determination to lead again.

Being a leader is not an easy task and that is why you will definitely got to have all it takes to be one. Quotes of leadership are just like your back up support that reminds you of who you are and what exactly do you do in life.

”A sense of humor is part of the art of leadership, of getting along with people, of getting things done.” -Dwight David Eisenhower

Quotes such as this helps to remind you of certain traits or qualities that might have brushed past you while you were leading. Humor, decisiveness, care and concern towards fellow co-workers are just some of the attributes that these quotes posses to keep you reminded of your role and responsibility as the leader.

But the question is, does these quotes really works as well as it should be? As aforementioned, not all quotes are worth remembering. Some quotes are just too long winded such that you lost the meaning halfway through reading it. Just choose one of your favorites and know it like it’s the back of your hand.

These quotes are just like positive affirmations that get registered into your brain if you keep on repeating it to yourself. This is a good thing of course as over time, you will realize that you will soon base your leadership on the set of qualities that are said within the quote. As such, it will definitely be handy to know a few quotes.

You do not need to memorize the thick book of quotes just because you think that with more quotes you memorize, the better you will be. Unfortunately it does not work that way. Quotes are meant to the left as it is, and not as a bible that you should read and remember by hard. Quotes on leadership can make you be a real leader indeed.

You Will Be Glade You Did!

An organization no matter how small or big it is calls for a leader. The leader on the other hand cannot just be someone. He has to be an effective leader, so to speak. Anyone can become a leader but only a few can exhibit effective leadership.

Now there is a big gap of difference between these two terms. An organization cannot be suited to survive if no effective leadership is exuded by the head. In order for things to work out smoothly and effectively, there must be someone who can lead the group and the members towards the betterment of things.

As is the practice, leaders are usually elected or chosen by the organization members. He cannot be chosen to handle a complicated task if the members have no faith in him. It is therefore the responsibility of the chosen leader to prove to everyone how effective he can be in leading everyone to success.

As the very famous words of the Chinese philosopher, Confucius, states it, “a leader is the one whose followers are impelled to follow him because of what he is and what he does”. It then follows that the leader must be able to influence the members. However, the influence must be rooted from good things.

Groups have specific goals and objectives. Therefore, an effective leader must be able to direct his group mates to the materialization of those goals. Furthermore, effective leadership involves the integration of the four Cs. They are Communication skills, Character, Creativity, and Consistency.

The Common Kinds of Leadership Styles

There are various organizations and among are the religious groups, political organizations, technical parties, and many others. There are also varying formats which become applicable to these types of leadership because not the same technique will work out for all of them.

The autocratic leadership. In here, the leader is the one who creates all of the policies and dictates on all the actions and tasks of the members. The leader in this group is known to be a disciplinarian and the result of such is for the members to oftentimes feel tensed, uncertain, and insecure.

The compassionate autocratic management. The leader is again the main source of the policies and he dominates over the members. In this group, the members likely show dependency and the inability to handle responsibilities.

The democratic leadership. The leader in here provokes mass participation in all of the activities that will trigger change in the system. The members tend to be more showy, enthusiastic, and confident.

The Traits of an Effective Leader

To become effective leaders, the person who leads a group must showcase enough but not too much self confidence. It matters that his fellowmen likes and respects him. He has to be flexible by nature, sensitive with the needs of others, compassionate, humane, creative, and is motivated to strive for the better.

An effective leader never leaves a member hanging in the air. His intellectual and technical skills must be blended with emotional and spiritual factors. It is always best for a group to have a leader who listens, considers, and supports the rest of the members of the gang.

They say that leaders are born instead of made. However, it can be a case to case basis. Effective leadership comes out of sensitivity and deep concern for the environment and for the people around. Furthermore, effective leadership is all about knowing your real duties as a leader and as a person.

Good leaders are made and not born. If you have the wish and willpower, you could become an effective leader. Good leaders develop by a never ending process of self-study, training, education and experience. This guide would help you through that process. To motivate your workers into upper levels of teamwork, there are certain things you should know, and, do. These do not come as you would expect, but are acquired by continual work and study. Good leaders are repeatedly working and are studying to develop their leadership skills; they are not resting on their laurels.

Before we get started with it, let us define leadership first. Leadership is a course of action by which a person influences others to attain a purpose and directs the organization in a way that make it more organized and coherent. Leaders carry out this by applying their leadership attributes, like beliefs, values, character, ethics, knowledge, and skills. Even though your position as a manager, supervisor etc. gives you the authority to carry out certain tasks and objectives in the organization, this power will not make you a leader, it simply makes you boss. Leadership differs in the fact that it makes the followers to achieve high goals, rather than simply bossing the people around.

When a person is deciding to respect you as a leader, she or he does not think about your attributes, rather, they examine what you do so that they can know who you really are. They use this observation to tell if you are a respectable and trusted leader or a self-serving person who misuse the authority to seem to be good and get promoted. These leaders are not as effective as their employees only obey them, not follow them. They will succeed in many areas since they present a good image to their seniors at the expense of their workers.

The basis of good leadership is admirable character and selfless service to the organization. In your employees’ eyes everything you do effects the organization’s principles and their well-being. Respected leaders will concentrate on what they are (like beliefs and character), what they know (like job and human nature), and what they do (such as implementing, and providing direction). What makes an individual follow a leader? People need to be guided by those they respect and who have a plain sense of direction. To gain respect, they should be ethical. A sense of direction is attained by conveying a strong vision of the future. In a successful leadership situation, the leader is a communal architect whose style is analysis and design. Whereas in an ineffective situation, the leader is a petty dictator whose leadership style details.

Each organization has a particular job environment, which dictates to a significant degree how its leaders respond to troubles and opportunities. This is brought about by its legacy of past and its present leaders. Successful organizations have those who set high values and goals across the entire spectrum, like strategies, plans, meetings and presentations, market leadership, productivity, quality, and reliability.

Hi,

I am looking for some videos or names of motivational speakers who specialize in the topic of motivating leaders to be… well, leaders. I plan to show this video in a managers meeting at work with intent to motivate fellow employees in supervisory positions to be better leaders.

Does anyone know of any good videos for this? Or know of any speakers who are especially good on the topic of leadership?

You Will Be Glade You Did!

The world is changing. The compression of time, globalization, and the influence of technology are transforming the marketplace as well as the organizations that operate within it. The quagmire that many American organizations find themselves in is determining how to transform themselves in order to keep pace. The only way that American organizations can competitively forge ahead in this new marketplace is to relinquish some power to their trusted employees, transforming them from simple worker bees to empowered leaders. This transformation cannot take place in rhetoric, but must be demonstrated in deeds. Organizational leaders must encourage trusted employees to lead through the development of their ideas and their initiative to take actions that are in the best interest of the organization.

This is not an easy task as the Industrial Age hierarchical leadership structure of many American organizations tend to limit the ability of middle to lower level employees to fully engage the organization’s mission and vision. Industrial Age organizational cultures often create an environment where employees are simply following the directives of higher level supervisors with little latitude to make decisions or input their ideas. This type of rigid top-down management does not encourage the type of leadership that the new marketplace requires. To demonstrate the importance of leadership for the viability of American organizations, let us briefly take a look at three of the forces that are changing the way American organizations must function and how leadership could improve their viability and competitiveness.

The Compression of Time and the Influence of Technology
The compression of time and the influence of technology work hand in hand, as the rapid development of new technology has drastically shortened the business cycle. Just think 25 years ago, if you wanted to send a document from one city to another you had to mail it. This would have taken 2-3 business days. Not any more. You can fax that same document, or scan and email it, allowing the receiver to obtain it in seconds. Twenty years ago, cell phones, the Internet, and high-speed communications were either not available or very limited, often limiting employees to communicating business while in the office. This is no longer the case, Blackberries, laptops, and home offices facilitated by fax machines and DSLs allow employees to conduct business anywhere at any time.

All of this new technology has truly changed the way American organizations view time, because much more can be done in the same span of time than in years past. What does this mean for organizations’ trusted employees’ productivity? Should they bog themselves down with more work simply because there is more ways to get things accomplished in a timely fashion?

It seems that the answer is yes, as more employees are working longer and longer hours, as their personal lives are being intruded upon by their work. But, the question here is-Are these employees using the new technology and compression of time to do better quality work that will provide their organization with a competitive edge or are they misusing the time afforded them because they lack the freedom to control their schedule because of higher directives?

The answer to this question lies with the employee, as he/she often knows best what he/she could be doing to make better use of his/her time. But, are organizational leaders who are immersed in an antiquated organizational culture open to listening to their trusted employees’ views on these matters? Are they open to letting these employees manage their time in order to more efficiently meet organizational objectives? While time management may seem simple, it requires a great deal of personal leadership on the part of the employee. Nevertheless, an employee’s ability to utilize technology to manage his/her time to facilitate organizational objects is vital to his/her productivity and creativity. Moreover, it is essential to an organization’s ability to remain competitive in this new marketplace.

Globalization
Globalization is another factor that is transforming the marketplace that American organizations compete in. Countries such as India, China, and Korea are developing their economies at a rapid pace. American organizations are now facing tremendous pressures in industries that we once dominated handily such as the car and electronics industry. In addition, the cheaper labor and lower operating costs are luring American companies to close down operations in the states and move them overseas, which hurts the average American worker. How can globalization be stopped is the question that I hear most often asked when this topic comes up?

However, globalization is not a force that one can truly combat, rather it is an inevitable shift in the world economy. No country stays on top forever, nor does any country stay on the bottom forever. Therefore, American organizations have to look at globalization as simply another transition in an ever-changing world. With this in mind, the question should not be what can we do to stop globalization, but rather what do we need to do so that we can remain viable and compete in this new world economy?

The first step is that our organizational leaders need to analyze what makes their organizations great. Answering the following questions will help them with this inquiry.

What do we do well?
Why do we do it so well?
What could we improve to do it even better?
Are our employees well-trained and happy to do what is asked of them?

Second, organizational leaders need to shift the conversation to global competition. Answering these questions will begin the shift.

What is our purpose on a global level?
What is our vision on a global level?
Do our employees understand that we face global competition?
Do our employees understand the global challenges we face?
Are our trusted employees empowered to make choices and decisions that they feel will give the organization a competitive advantage in this global marketplace?

In all, globalization just like the compression of time and the influence of technology requires leadership for American organizations to remain viable and competitive in this new marketplace. Still, many of us fear what is on the horizon as things may look a bit murky. This is a normal reaction when change comes about, but understand that leadership does not operate out of fear. Leadership requires that you set aside your fears long enough to take the necessary actions to achieve your goals. So, to American organizational leaders don’t be afraid to encourage your employees to lead. And to employees, don’t be afraid to lead.

Will American organizations thrive in this new marketplace? Only those that embrace and encourage true leadership at all levels of the organizational hierarchy. Therefore, American organizations must break free from their subconscious love affair with the rigid top-down organizational culture of the Industrial Age, as it stifles employees’ ability to lead. Lend me your thoughts.

In this industry, everything rises and falls on leadership so developing the specific MLM leadership qualities is absolutely primordial to grow and sustain momentum in your team.

Rate yourself honestly from 0 to 10 in each one of these qualities and strive to become a 10 in all of them.

1. As a Leader, you’re organized and self disciplined. Without discipline there is no organization. When you’re organized you do things more efficiently and waste less time. Have a daily method of operation and follow it consistently. Discipline is the mother of success.

2. As a Leader, you are committed to work hard and be productive. Work constantly to replace unproductive habits for productive habits. Value your time, and your downline’s time above anything. As an example to your downline you want to get at least 10 new distributors a month.

3. As a Leader, you are 100% responsible and 100% self-functional. When you do what has to be done you are being responsible. The more you depend on others the less control you have. Make it your goal to become independent from your upline as soon as possible and make your downline have this goal too. Achieving it will make your team’s growth explode.

4. As a Leader, you are honest. You never use others for your own advancement. Be interested in the long term successs of your distributors instead of their short term productivity. You’re not going to teach things you haven’t done yourself. Honour your commitments.

5. As a Leader, you have total and professional knowledge of the Network Marketing Industry. Be an expert. Know what you’re doing so you can teach others how to do it. If somebody asks you what mlm is, as a leader you must have a simple, direct and convincing answer to give.

6. As a Leader, you maintain a relaxed mental attitude. It simply makes you do your job with more ease and your downline respect you more because it gives a sense of control and mastery. When people respect you, you become more influential and that’s what leadership’s all about.

7. As a Leader, you remain true to yourself. You never compromise your values, beliefs and personal Integrity. Your Leadership style reflects your own personality. Work and develop your leadership skills instead of trying to change your personality.

8. As a Leader, you show respect for your upline, downline and company. You must be supportive of the changes in the company. Treat everybody equally and encourage people on your dowline. Talk about your company with total conviction and never show negativity to your downline because it spreads like a virus.

9. As a Leader, you’re constantly teaching others as well as learning. Spend time adding knowledge about your company. Spend time to improve your marketing skills. Spend time to improve yourself. Use every contact with your dowline as an opportunity to teach. Be willing to share what you know.

10. As a Leader, you have a strong will. This atribute generates all others. If you’re willing to, you’ll develop any skill. If you’re willing to, you will succeed. And never forget: As a leader, always speak from a position of strength, never from a position of weakness.

Leadership is a natural consequence of your actions. If you accept the responsibility of leadership instead of seeking the rewards of leadership, you’ll become a leader in less than time. Always focus on doing what’s right, instead of what’s popular and rember that you’re an example to your dowline so whatever you do, they will replicate. If you display weakness, they’ll weaken but if you display a strong will, they’ll just go for it!

You Will Be Glade You Did!

The secret to successful leadership development is often pondered by young would-be executives just beginning to climb the ladder of success. The climb up the corporate ladder is intimidating, lined with both ambition and peril.

What does it take to make it all the way to the C-Suite, and how do I get there?

What most of these individuals don’t realize until much later down the road is that the secret to successful leadership development is really no secret at all.

A child first learning how to swim doesn’t just jump off of a dock and hope for the best. He carefully, deliberately practices his strokes, ducking his head under water and emerging unscathed until he can do so with confidence. Only when he is able to swim in the shallow end without fear is he ready to attempt the wonders that wait for him at the end of that dock.

The secret to successful leadership development follows precisely the same model. In order to become a successful leader you must first practice your strokes and learn to swim in the shallow end. Mastering leadership development is a series of steps that involves:

1) Learning from the people who have gone before you. There are literally thousands of books, seminars, conferences and training camps dedicated to teaching leadership development, almost all centered around the knowledge and experience of executives and former executives that have climbed the corporate ladder and are now reaching down to pull up the next generation. Take advantage of these opportunities as often as possible.

2) Don’t be afraid to question your fundamental beliefs. Many leaders step into the role with the belief that because things “have always” been done a certain way, that is the way they should be done. Progressive leadership development encourages open minded thinking and a constant quest for improvement. Thinking outside the box is the key to setting your feet on the path to success.

3) Watch. Listen. Learn. Regardless of your business, unless you’re fortunate enough to own an island off the coast of Fiji you probably spend most of your day surrounded by people. This simple fact is an invaluable resource along the course of leadership development. The next time you’re in a crowd, take the opportunity to stop and listen.

You’ll notice that there are some people who seem able to slip seamlessly through life while others constantly run into walls of opposition, a distinction that marks the high and low points of leadership development. No school in the world can teach you precisely the right tone to use when calming an angry client or convincing a supplier to see things your way. The lessons you learn in personal interaction and subtle manipulation through simply keeping your eyes and ears open in your daily activities are priceless.

The secret to successful leadership development isn’t really a secret at all. An open mind, open ears and a carefully controlled tongue are all you need to take that first step toward your future at the top of the corporate ladder.
