reaching them
Setting goals, and writing them down, is like creating an actual working plan for your future. But you shouldn’t just write your goals down. Write a step by step process of how you can achieve them. Seeing that is is actually possible helps you stick with them. It motivates you to go forward with your plans.
Start with a goal you care about (harder to forget) then make sure its realistic, break it into smaller chunks, and put sticky notes on your mirror and/or fridge to remind yourself. The benefit in setting goals is accomplishing whatever you set out to do (the only way anything gets done..you must set goals whether consciously or not, its just more effective consciously)
With you goals you just exist. With goals, you exist for a reason. You have a greater purpose in life.
I’m the same. But they did studies on goal setting. There was about 2 long term studies 30-50 years ago at yale and harvard. The 3% who wrote down the goals have the same net worth as the combination of the 97% who didn’t. And the 13% who had goals but didn’t write it down had 2x’s net worth as the 85 % with no actual precise goals.
setting goals helps guide a person. If you find yourself asking yourself things like “why do i work so hard” or “what am i doing this for?” then you are like an arrow that has been shot in to the sky, you keep flying, but don’t know where you will hit and if the outcome will be good. A person with goals is an archer aiming for the bullseye, you have something to look forward to and to orient your work towards. When you reach a goal you can feel good knowing you challenged yourself and achieved success. You know that all your work was for something.
As Lombardi supposedly said, “If you don’t know where you’re going, you might not get there.”
You sound like me in the sense that would set a goal then forget about it shortly thereafter. But I remedied that by making it a goal not to forget my goals. I also make daily goals as wells as weekly and yearly goals. Short term goals helps.
One step at a time is a good approach.
The benefits of having goals it that it helps provide direction in your life. It also gives you something to look forward to.
First of all your goals should be realistic. You should have short term goals and long term goals. Your goals should be written down on paper and posted where you can see them everyday. Your goals will encounter obstacles, do not let that deter you from achieving them. Once you have established your goals you will need a game plan on how to achieve those goals, and it usually requires that you continue your education. I am 44, and after 24 years in the military, I am back in college working on my BA. My goals have changed due to the fact that I have 3 kids to send to college in the future and that is my main goal.
I I t will motivate u to set the work so it is necessary. 2 . It will help to keep the ball rolling 3 .Unless there is a goal u will go astray 4To prevent forgetting just note it at some place where u will see frequently 5or write it on the ceiling just above ur bed so that on waking up u will see that
You’re right, setting goals is VERY beneficial, whether for school/grades (I presume you’re a student) or for personal improvement. Setting goals can keep you motivated and focused or at least remind you to do good in that certain field. How? When you have goals, you envision yourself to be on top, to be the best, and to never quit. That can keep you on track. Take Michael Jordan for instance. He was cut from his High School basketball team once, and it hurt him so much that his goal was to never endure that kind of pain again. He used that pain to drive himself to become the best player on the team, and sure enough he made the team the next year. This carried over to college, and eventually to the pros, and now we know him as the best basketball player ever to play. As for your forgetfulness, if you can’t keep your goals in mind, then perhaps writing them in a small notepad or notebook should do the trick. As the saying goes, “What you can’t keep in a big brain, keep in a small piece of paper”. Good luck!
there isn’t any. it just leads to stress. just enjoy life and take it easy.
